Sometimes called Tulsi which means “the incomparable one”, Holy Basil is an Indian plant which the Hindus consider to be sacred. It has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine as a so-called adaptogen. Adoptogens may decrease sensitivity and decrease resistance to outside stressors. This could result in long term stress reduction. Holy Basil is made from the stems, leaves and seeds of the basil plant. People may use it to treat diabetes, high cholesterol and anxiety. It could also improve memory and memory recall.
